No. 4 Georgia weathers delay, downs Austin Peay

Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens each scored two touchdowns to lead host No. 4 Georgia to a 28-6 win over Austin Peay Saturday.The game’s start time was moved up an hour to avoid inclement weather, but lightning in the area forced a two-hour delay at halftime.The Bulldogs are now 2-0 and Austin Peay falls to 1-1.Georgia’s defense held the Governors to 45 yards rushing, while Gunner Stockton completed 26 of 34 passes for 227 yards as Georgia converted seven of 13 third downs.The Bulldogs started out slow when Frazier fumbled four plays into the game, giving Austin Peay the ball on the Georgia 44. Georgia, however, forced a three-and-out.For their second drive, the Bulldogs went 80 yards in 10 plays to take a 7-0 lead.Bowens started the drive with a 10-yard run and Stockton found Colbie Young for 13. On the next play, Stockton hit Zach Branch for 17 yards to get into Austin Peay territory. Three plays later, Dwight Phillips Jr. ran for 23 to the Austin Peay 10. Bowen then ran for 8 yards before scoring from 2 yards out with 5:55 left in the first quarter.The Governors again went three-and-out and Georgia took over at their own 44.Stockton engineered a nine-play touchdown drive. The big play was a 19-yard strike to Talyn Taylor that gave the Bulldogs a first down at the Austin Peay 18. Frazier scored on a 2-yard carry three plays into the second quarter for a 14-0 Georgia lead.
