About Ned Michaels:

A native of Atlanta, GA., Ned Michaels grew up as a serious tennis players and didn’t begin playing competitive golf until his junior year of high school he initially went to college as a student at Wake Forest University before walking on to the golf team. Michaels transferred to Vanderbilt University in the spring of 1999 and joined the school’s golf program in time for the 1999 season. At Vanderbilt, Michaels contributed immediately for the Commodores, turning in an excellent season that saw him rank third on the team in stroke average (his 74.48 narrowly trailed then-teammate and current PGA Tour-standout Brandt Snedeker at 74.03), post two Top-10 finishes and become the inaugural recipient of the program’s Craig Rudolph memorial Cup, not given annually to the team’stop player. After college, Michaels spent two years on the Hooters Tour and six years as a member of both the Asian and European Tours, claiming three tournament titles, including the Philippine One, Asia’s oldest championship,  a victory he notched in just his second start on the circuit.

After several serious injuries derailed his competitive career in 2009, Michaels returned to the States and made his debut as a broadcaster, co-hosting the radio show, “Talking Golf” Virgil and Ned’s Tour Spin” on 104-5 The Zone – Nashville, what is consistently one of the highest-rated in-market sports radio stations in the country, In 2012, he made his first venture into the digital landscape, joining PGATour.com as the co-host of its weekday morning web-program, “Golf Talk America,” and working with PGA Tour Entertainment as a co-host on the “Live@” series. Michaels continues his radio work for The Zone, now serving as the host of the “Global Golf Radio” show on Wednesday evenings throughout the year. He has also received instructor certification and for he past six years, has taught at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., while also owning and operating 360 Junior Golf , a program for high school golfers seeking to continue their careers at the collegiate level.

 

About Bob Mueller:

Bob Mueller, co-anchor of News 2 at 4 and 6 p.m. and host of the Sunday morning political show “This Week with Bob Mueller,” has been with News 2 for 35 years. During this time, Bob’s reporting skills have earned him numerous honors and distinctions. Bob is a 10-time Emmy Award winning journalist and a member of the Silver Circle reserved for those working in broadcast journalism for more than 25 years. He is also a winner of the coveted George Foster Peabody National Award for investigative reporting, and has been honored with three National Telly Awards and 2 National Communicator Awards.

Bob has also received awards from the Associated Press, United Press International and the Radio Television News Directors Association (RTNDA).

Bob began his career in broadcasting in high school, working as a radio news reporter/disc jockey. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, where he received a B.A. in Fine Arts. He continued pursuing his radio interests in college, gaining more experience in the field as a news and sports reporter, and eventually as the station’s news director. He got his start in television as a reporter, producer and anchor for WMDB-TV in Peoria, Illinois. Bob worked for WTVC-TV in Chattanooga, where he was an investigative and state government reporter and anchor. Bob joined News 2 in 1980 as a field reporter covering the State Capitol.

Bob has the distinction of bringing his viewers some major historical events. He covered the first space shuttle launch in 1981. He was there when President Jimmy Carter returned to Plains, Georgia after leaving the White House. He was the first reporter to talk with Jimmy Carter about the release of the hostages in Iran. Besides covering several Democratic and Republican Presidential Conventions and two Presidential Inaugurations, Bob has brought his audiences one on one interviews with Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Al Gore, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

Bob is also recognized as one of Middle Tennessee’s most active members in helping his community. He has worked helping feed the hungry with Second Harvest Food Bank for the past 30 years and was a member of their Board of Trust for 6 years.

He has worked with the Boy Scouts for 17 years and serves as a member of the Scout’s marketing committee. He serves as a member of the advisory board for NAMI (Nashville Mental Illness Organization).

Bob also has worked with country music singer Vince Gill on his charity/celebrity golf tournament. He also has been instrumental in raising awareness and funding through his coverage of The Vinny. So far, The Vinny Golf Tournament has raised over $5 million.

For 18 years, Bob has hosted his own golf tournament. The Bob Mueller M.S. Celebrity Challenge has raised over $1,000,000 to fight M.S. Bob has also been a member of the Nashville Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Board of Trust for the past 18 years.

Bob also served for 3 years as a member of the Board of Trust of Rocketown of Nashville. A youth music venue, skate park and after school facility. A dream of contemporary Christian singer Michael W. Smith that became reality.

Bob’s continuing commitment to the community earned him the honor of being installed the Highland High School Hall of Fame in 2009 as well as four TEA School Bell Awards.

Bob and his wife have a daughter Mari, and two sons Will and Nick as well as a Shih Tzu’s, Nina. In his spare time, Bob enjoys golfing, ice hockey, jogging, the beach and reading.
