The New Orleans Saints placed 24-year-old wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk on the reserve/retired list on Sunday.

A reason for Polk's decision to retire was not yet known. Head coach Kellen Moore said Polk had been excused from the past two training camp practices for personal reasons. The receiver's Instagram account also appeared to be deactivated or removed as of Sunday evening.

Polk was the 37th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. As a rookie, Polk played in 15 games, making seven starts, and totaled 12 receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

He did not play in 2025 due to a shoulder injury. While Polk was on injured reserve in September, the Patriots traded him to the Saints along with a 2028 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2027 sixth-rounder.

Former No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney is returning to the Houston Texans for the first time since the 2018 season, multiple reports said Sunday.

Clowney will sign with Houston for a base value of $5.5 million and a max value of $8 million, KPRC2 in Houston reported.

The report came on the heels of the Texans re-signing veteran defensive end Mario Edwards, who played the past two seasons with the franchise. The team has not confirmed the Clowney signing.

Both moves add depth to an already stout front four led by Danielle Hunter (15 sacks last season) and Will Anderson (12 sacks in 2025).

Clowney, 33, was drafted first overall in 2014 and played five seasons in Houston, amassing 29 sacks, 205 tackles, 67 quarterback hits, five forced fumbles and five recoveries over 62 games for the franchise.

He spent the ensuing seven years suiting up for six different clubs: the Seattle Seahawks (2019), Tennessee Titans (2020), Cleveland Browns (2021-22), Baltimore Ravens (2023), Carolina Panthers (2024) and Dallas Cowboys (2025). NFL Network reported that Clowney visited with the Browns this summer while exploring his options.

Over 153 games (133 starts), Clowney has totaled 66.5 sacks, 450 tackles, 149 QB hits, 16 forced fumbles and 11 recoveries. He was a Pro Bowler in each of his final three seasons in Houston.

Edwards, 32, appeared in 14 games as a reserve last season and finished with 1.5 sacks. He started 12 games in his first season in Houston in 2024 and had three sacks that season.

Over 11 seasons with the then-Oakland Raiders (2015-17), New York Giants (2018), New Orleans Saints (2019), Chicago Bears (2020-21), Titans (2022), Seahawks (2023) and Texans, Edwards has recorded 26 sacks, 200 tackles, 64 QB hits, six forced fumbles and two recoveries.

In other roster moves Sunday, the Texans waived offensive tackle Derrick Graham and running back Evan Hull.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admitted that he will contemplate tinting the west-facing windows at AT&T Stadium.

His decision to do so comes on the heels of FIFA demanding the curtains be closed during recent World Cup match at the venue.

"Well, do you know something?" Jones told Fox 4. "Thinking about it and doing something about it are two different things. ... But I'll think about it. It's hard to tell that time of the year, because the sun's not the same. This time of the year that it is, in the fall. And that is, you get on into -- sun changes, and the angle of that sun changes from September through year-round. But as we look at it, I like some of the effects of the tinting. And so we're giving that a thought."

The sun shines through the end zones in late-afternoon games, creating an aesthetic view but one that also -- on occasion -- affects game play.

Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, for example, dropped an easy touchdown pass because of the glare in a 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 10, 2024.

"I couldn't see the ball. Couldn't see the ball, at all. The sun," Lamb said at the time.

Buffalo Bills veteran safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson is nursing a lower right calf injury, one day after being carted off the practice field, ESPN reported Sunday.

Gardner-Johnson sustained the injury in a non-contact situation after defending against a run play during 11-on-11 team drills.

At least one teammate said he wasn't worried.

"I walked up to him, and I told him, 'You all right? Take care of yourself. Can you walk?'" left tackle Dion Dawkins said after practice. "And he got up, and he did his thing. He could put weight on his legs, so he can walk. So we all know that injury is 100% in this league, but he's all right. And I got the message from coaches that he's all right and they're going to do their protocol. He'll get ... whatever he has to get, and he'll be right back in the loop.

"... But C.J. is OK, but it's a scary thing. ... But C.J. is a dog, as we all know. So if anybody's going to push through something the right way, it'd be C.J."

Gardner-Johnson, 28, won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2024 season before he was traded to the Houston Texans on March 11, 2025.

He played just three games with the Texans before catching on with Chicago and playing seven more contests with the Bears. He totaled 66 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions in 2025.

Gardner-Johnson has 20 interceptions, 370 tackles and seven sacks in 87 career games (71 starts) with the New Orleans Saints (2019-21), Eagles (2022, 2024), Detroit Lions (2023), Texans and Bears.

Bo Nix has recovered from his untimely fractured right ankle and the Denver Broncos quarterback maintains the injury won't cause him to change his style of play.

Nix has accumulated 786 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground over his first two NFL seasons, making his wheels an important part of his all-around success. He has no interest in curtailing his running ability.

"Absolutely not. I'm going to roll, and I'm going to be as athletic as I can be," Nix said Saturday while meeting with reporters. "It's a strength of ours and we have to use our strengths. For me, that's when I feel at my best and that's when I feel free. When I'm playing like that, when I'm moving around it's a good thing, but at the same time, I also know what it's like to not have that asset and have to stay in the pocket."

Nix was injured late in a 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC divisional round on Jan. 17, forcing him to miss the AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots.

Nix underwent surgery on Jan. 20 in Birmingham, Ala. One day later, he termed learning the severity of the injury as "some of the most devastating football news I've ever received."

He underwent a follow-up surgery in April to remove bone spurs in the ankle.

But now he's able to look firmly ahead and said he's physically ready for the 2026 season.

"I feel great. I feel normal. Nothing's holding me back," Nix said. "I'm out there playing like I normally do and feel really good in my spot. I'm going to continue to push it and progress, and also continue to physically get ready for this long season.

"Right now, I'm exactly where I want to be for our plan, and actually was a little bit ahead of where I was last year going into the season, going into the summer. I feel really good, feel like I'm in a good spot. I think it's showing on the field."

Nix, a first-round pick (12th overall) out of Oregon in 2024, has passed for 7,706 yards and 54 touchdowns against 23 interceptions in 34 regular-season games for the Broncos. He has guided Denver to a 24-10 regular-season record and consecutive postseason appearances.

One of the things that has impressed Denver coach Sean Payton is Nix's ability to extend plays.

"It's one of his superpowers. It's hard to sack some quarterbacks -- he's one of them," Payton said Saturday. "That was something you saw on college tape. In our league when you take a sack, you just do the analytics on what your points become in that drive, or likelihood to kick a field goal and it all drops dramatically. So it's certainly one of his strengths."

Nix was sacked just 22 times last season while leading the NFL with 612 pass attempts.

Taysom Hill's nine-season tenure with the New Orleans Saints is over and former coach Sean Payton could have a landing space for him.

Payton and the Denver Broncos are reportedly interested in bringing in the jack-of-all-trades Hill to discuss a reunion in the Mile High City.

Payton coached Hill in New Orleans from 2017-21 and successfully unleashed his versatility as a receiver, quarterback and rusher.

Hill, who turns 36 next month, could factor in all three roles with the Broncos. He enters this season with 2,426 passing yards and 12 touchdowns against nine interceptions to go with a 7-2 record as a starter.

Hill has rushed for 2,551 yards, 34 touchdowns and recorded first downs on 179 on his 489 career rushing attempts.

As a receiver and tight end, Hill has 110 receptions for 1,034 yards and 11 scores. He accumulated first downs on 48 of his catches.

Hill also has 489 kickoff return yards during his career but it is highly unlikely he would be utilized in that role again.

With Bo Nix coming off ankle surgery, Hill could serve as the running quarterback in short-down situations and help Nix protect the ankle. Jarrett Stidham, who started the AFC Championship Game loss to the New England Patriots in place of the injured Nix, is currently the No. 2 quarterback.

Hill was signed by the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent out of BYU in 2017 before being released shortly before the start of the season and getting scooped up by New Orleans.

He passed for 43 touchdowns and rushed for 32 in parts of five seasons in Provo.
