Doug Mathews brings you inside information from the UT campus 52 weeks a year!

Not many analysts in the midsouth have as much football expertise as Doug Mathews. Mathews, best known for his 10 seasons as Running Backs Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the University of Tennessee, brings you the latest on University Of Tennessee football every Sunday morning on Big Orange Sunday.

No one in Nashville has the access or insight to Big Orange Football that Doug brings to the air each and every Sunday morning. But Big Orange Sunday is more than football: it’s everything related to the University of Tennessee.

Break down Saturday’s game with Doug Mathews at 737-1045. Sunday’s 8a-9a on THE Sports Station — 104-5 The Zone.

Mathews’ Background:

Mathews credits Bear Bryant and Bud Wilkinson as coaches who influenced the way he coached his players during the years he worked inside the game, but no one had as much of an effect on his coaching philosophy as former Virginia Tech head coach Bill Dooley. Mathews says Dooley furnished him with his first opportunity as an offensive coach and provided him with valuable information within the I-Formation offense.

B6B: Toy Story 4 Review

By JASON MARTIN (@JMartZone – June 19, 2019) “4” is pretty rarified air as it relates to a film trilogy, or for that matter a scripted television season. It requires longevity both from a cast willing to keep on coming back for more as well as an audience willing to… keep on coming back for…

B6B: On 9 and 27 from a Transplant

By JASON MARTIN (@JMartZone – June 13, 2019) Here’s what I can’t do: Add anything to what’s already been written over the past 24 hours or certainly over the past 24 years about either Steve McNair or Eddie George. I needed to find some sort of angle that wouldn’t rely on recapping and laying out…

B6B: Playing the Blame Game is Futility at Its Worst

By JASON MARTIN (@JMartZone – June 12, 2019) Once it was revealed on Wednesday afternoon that Kevin Durant had already undergone surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon, we officially learned what we unofficially already felt was the case. Interestingly, the Golden State Warriors had stated there were no updates on KD five minutes…

B6B: RETRO DEEP SIX DIVE: John Wick (2014)

By JASON MARTIN (@JMartZone – May 23, 2019) Somehow, it’s been over five years since the world first visited the Continental Hotel and was introduced to a universe that changed how we view what’s possible in a gritty action franchise. On the surface, John Wick was simple, by-the-book, and straightforward in its approach and in…

B6B: Golden State Remains Steph’s Show

By JASON MARTIN (@JMartZone – May 17, 2019) There’s a difference between “better” and “more fun” or “favorite” in entertainment. Whereas Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof’s mystery, Lost, remains my personal number one show of all-time, I also recognize Breaking Bad and The Wire are probably the two BEST series of my lifetime, and both…

B6B: John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum Review

By JASON MARTIN (@JMartZone – May 14, 2019) No big screen franchise, with the exception of the The Fast and the Furious films, has been more surprising in its longevity and success than the John Wick movies. Prior to the first movie’s release, it was largely seen as…well, something that most people wouldn’t see. And then, something…

B6B: Rockets Playoff Exit is a Recycled, Predictable Plot Line

By JASON MARTIN (@JMartZone – May 11, 2019) “Narrative” can really become an albatross around the neck of someone’s life, whether it be in certain aspects or as an overall summation of that person’s perceived worth. That’s the problem with placing value on one particular thing, even if that thing happens to pay that individual…
