No one in Nashville can match the vast array of experiences and insights of Willy Daunic, who joined The Zone in August of 2003. Willy offers his listening audience not only his personal experience of being an SEC basketball and baseball player but also his time as a professional baseball player with the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He also finished first among the Nashville media in the 2003 Tennessean Sports Trivia Challenge.Willy has been a sports talk show host since 1993. He has been a Nashville resident since the fall of 1989 when he arrived for his freshmen year at Vanderbilt University on a full basketball scholarship. He played for three seasons in basketball as a reserve guard, averaging a whopping 1.7 ppg while playing for the NIT championship team in 1990 and the NCAA tournament team in 1991 under Coach Eddie Fogler.
Willy also played four years of baseball for the Commodores, going 12-6 as a pitcher for his career as well as hitting .306 as a 1B/OF/DH his senior year of 1993. After graduating with a BA in History, Daunic was drafted in the 1993 25th round by the Blue Jays, where he played two seasons hitting a combined .229 batting average with one home run as a 1B/OF.
